Dr. Venkitakrishnan received his PhD in the area of Welding of Aluminium Alloys from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Madras in 2005. He also received an MBA from Annamalai University.
Before joining IIT Madras as a Professor of Practice, he was with Indian Space Research Organization in various leadership roles. He was also Prof. Satish Dhawan Scientist, ISRO HQ, Bengaluru.
Dr. Venkitakrishnan started his career in ISRO in 1983 and served in various positions and retired as Director, Capacity Building Program Office (CBPO), ISRO HQ, Bengaluru.
ISRO individual merit award for excellence for the year 2011.
ISRO Performance Excellence award for the year 2016.
Distinguished alumnus from IIT Chennai for the year 2017.
“Anweshak” Award from Society of Aerospace Manufacturing Engineers (SAME) for the year 2009.
