Prof. Babu Viswanathan’s research interests include high performance computing, supersonic combustion, simulation of flows using lattice Boltzman method, numerical simulation of flows using CFD, computational aeroacoustics, simulation of high speed chemically reacting flows and plasmas and prediction of noise from subsonic and supersonic jets.

Biography

Dr. Krithika's received her PhD from Stanford University in 2013. She worked as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at Cornell University until mid 2015 before joining IIT Madras. Her research interest centers on development of chemical kinetic schemes to describe the oxidation of real fuels using mechanism reduction methods. She is interested in predicting global combustion characteristics of conventional and alternative fuels and interpreting these observations based on insights gained from molecular level kinetic descriptions.

Biography

Prof. V. Raghavan received his PhD from IIT Madras in 2004. He worked as Post Doctoral Research Fellow and Research Assistant Professor at University of Nebraska-Lincoln for around three years from Oct 2004 to June 2007 before joining IIT Madras. His research interest includes droplet evaporation and combustion, laminar flames and CFD applied to combustion. He works on transient two-phase numerical modeling of isolated droplet vaporization and combustion, detailed chemical kinetics studies on homogeneous and heterogeneous flames and simulations of non-reactive and reactive particle laden flows.

Dr. Srikrishna Sahu received his PhD from Imperial College London, UK in 2011. He worked as Post Doctoral Research Fellow at Imperial College for two years from 2011 to 2013 before joining IIT Madras. His research interest includes development and application of different optical diagnostics in Fluid Mechanics and Combustion studies. He works on spray dynamics, particle-turbulence interaction, liquid atomization, image processing, droplet evaporation and combustion.

Dr. S Varunkumar received his PhD from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in 2012. He worked as a research associate at IISc from February, 2012 to May, 2013 and as Assistant professor (on contract) till December, 2013 at IIT Ropar, Punjab, before joining IIT Madras. His research interest includes thermo-chemical conversion of biomass and coal for energy and fuels and modeling instability in solid rocket motors.
